Sotheby’s International Realty Ranks First Among Real Estate Franchises, First Overall

When you are looking for assistance with your real estate transaction in Jackson Hole you want the best agents looking out for you, right? How about knowing that your team is backed by the resources and global reach of the top-ranked franchise in real estate?

Sotheby’s International Realty has just been named “Best in Category” for Real Estate Franchisee Satisfaction for the eighth year in a row by the Franchise Business Review. Not only did SIR maintain their top spot in-category, they also took first overall this year.

Franchise Business Review’s president, Michelle Rowan notes that Sotheby’s International Realty’s “…continuous efforts to find ways to strengthen the brand and relationship with its franchise partners won it the honor of being ranked number one overall on our list of 200 brands….”

A few of the ways SIR is strengthening it’s offerings this year include: expanded media partnerships (look for an announcement this spring); substantial investment in updated multimedia platforms (web, iOS and Android) within the first quarter; and partner research and publications like the “Global Luxury Residential Real Estate Report.”

The Sotheby’s International Realty network connects you with the finest independently owned and operated real estate companies worldwide—approximately 730 offices in 56 countries, offering exposure to some of the most prestigious global clientele. Call, email, or stop by one of our nine area Jackson Hole Sotheby’s International Realty offices and let us show you what makes us number one.

JHSIR Properties in Print

The old adage in real estate is, of course… “location, location, location.” In many ways, the same could be said for advertising—and JHSIR delivers this month with two strong offerings from Sotheby’s International Realty.

The Sotheby’s International Realty network offers numerous opportunities for global property exposure across the web, in print, mobile platforms and through a network of over 700 offices worldwide.

Among these print offerings is RESIDE Magazine—a publication dedicated to home, art and living. RESIDE offers a highly-targeted regional edition, RESIDE Mountain, that includes JHSIR. RESIDE Mountain boasts a circulation of 20,000 issues distributed with the Wall Street Journal within select zip codes. An additional 8,000 are distributed via affiliated offices throughout the region.

-The latest edition of RESIDE Mountain prominently features the stunning interior of the “Serengeti Home,” listed by Chris and Erich Wilbrecht, on it’s cover. The inside front cover showcases the unmatched Teton views from Tom Evans‘ 105-acre Bar BC Ranch Estate. The feature article inside, “Escaping to Work” highlights Spackmans & Associates‘ unique listing of The Refuge at Alpine Air Park if a private airplane is more in keeping with your idea of a commute.

Also releasing this month is the January-February edition of Art&Home magazine (directly distributed to 50,000 auction clientele as Sotheby’s Magazine) with its Extraordinary Properties article “Altitude with Attitude” wherein author Iyna Bort Caruso once again highlights the Serengeti Home as a “fresh, contemporary and innovative home [that] pays tribute to its surroundings with sweeping views and modern architecture.” The home is noted for its design, material choices and of course, its breathtaking Jackson Hole views.

JHSIR is pleased to partner with its agents and clients to celebrate these remarkable offerings, and to invite you to see them for yourself. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Ranked First in North America

With fifty-two inches of snow already reported at the summit of Rendezvous Bowl and another big storm cycle predicted for the weekend, winter has arrived in Jackson Hole.

The Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has, once again, earned the top position on Forbes’ ranking of The Top 10 Ski Resorts in North America for the upcoming 2015 Season—the fourth year in a row.

Forbes touts their rankings as being more scientific and less shooting-from-the-hip due to their implementation of their very own rating algorithm. They note that “A resort’s [Pure Awesomeness Factor] score cuts through the marketing, the dogma, the conventional wisdom that’s anything but to produce unadulterated, unalloyed truth”—a truth that bestowed a lofty 99/100 upon Jackson Hole.

“The tram at Jackson Hole remains the finest ski lift at any of the resorts we consider…” writes author Christopher Steiner. “Jackson, in our estimation, is one of the more responsible stewards of the spirit of skiing.” Speaking of responsible stewards, Steiner notes Hotel Terra as his preferred place to stay and acknowledges their LEED certification (Diamond, for those counting). The Spur Restaurant and Bar in Teton Mountain Lodge and The Handle Bar at The Four Seasons both earned a mention as well.
Snarky locals are quick to refute these rankings, however, advising that the data is misrepresented, the lines are horrendous, and it barely ever snows. One even quipped, “don’t bother coming to Jackson, I hear Colorado is lovely.” An excessively sarcastic statement considering that “Jackson’s record year for visits still only comprises about a third of the visits that the mountains [in Colorado] see in a year.“

With opening day on Thanksgiving, just a few days away, there is a whole season ahead to form your own opinion.

JHMR is once again offering its “Ski Free – Stay Free” program in conjunction with an expanded winter flight schedule from the Jackson Hole Airport. It is easier than ever to experience the premier ski resort in North America.

Stop by one of our nine area offices (including our convenient Teton Village offices in Teton Mountain Lodge, Hotel Terra, The Four Seasons, Snake River Lodge and Spa and the Village Market) and to talk to an agent about making the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort your local resort.

Skiing ninth-ranked Grand Targhee already (today happens to be opening day for the Alta, Wyoming-based resort a quick jump over the pass from Jackson)? Stop by our office on Main Street in the heart of Driggs and stake your claim amidst the fourth-best snow.

Wyoming Ranks First for Low Taxes

Wyoming has once again been awarded the distinction of being the most tax-friendly state in the Union based on tax codes for the fiscal year of 2015. According to the Tax Foundation’s 2015 State Business Tax Climate Index, Wyoming is ranked first overall—largely due to its lack of corporate tax or state income tax, and its low property taxes.

According to the report, “states with the best tax systems will be the most competitive at attracting new businesses and most effective at generating economic and employment growth,” a statement backed by Wyoming’s 7.6% GDP growth.

The report’s findings have broader implications than to business owners alone. “The tax friendliness of Wyoming is very attractive to individuals whose business allows them to work from virtually any location. Jackson Hole offers one of the most beautiful places in the world to live either full or part time and when combined with the tax advantages, it becomes the most attractive and logical choice for people looking at the complete package,” describes Ed Liebzeit, associate broker with Jackson Hole Sotheby’s International Realty.

The results were welcomed, although not a surprise. Wyoming also garnered the top spot for tax friendliness in 2014, 2013, 2012…. Go ahead and celebrate—the state makes it easy with the lowest beer tax (two cents/gallon) in the nation as well.

The Best Just Gets Better

More awards and recognition for Huntsman Springs has created new enthusiasm and excitement for homes and golf memberships as we get close to our season opening.

Huntsman Springs has received another special golf course award having been named as a 2012 “Top 100” golf course in the U.S. by LINKS magazine! This is in addition to being named one of 2012’s Best Modern Courses (built in the last 50 years) and Top Residential Courses both by Golfweek magazine. Kudos to General Manager Tony Snoey and his staff for their outstanding work and service.

Other exciting news is that final design work is underway on the Clubhouse complex with plans to break ground as soon as the snow melts. Dirt moving began late in the fall so that construction could begin this spring. The plans include creating an environment offering many new activities including the fitness center, pool, tennis courts as well as the clubhouse.

We have more exciting news on the real estate front with our home owner population growing and continued interest by others to have a home at Huntsman Springs. In spite of a tough real estate year throughout the country and in our area, we sold five homes in 2011 making Huntsman Springs the hot spot in Teton Valley.

The David McLay Kidd golf course is the centerpiece of Huntsman Springs and a great reason to live or have a home here. However, there is even more to enjoy—the beautiful weather and summer temperatures, exceptional fly fishing on site and in world renowned rivers in the area, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, hunting, hiking, biking, horseback riding, climbing, rafting, historic Jackson Hole and so much more.

Once you are here you know for yourself what a special place Huntsman Springs is for you, your family and friends. If you have not been here, you owe it to yourself to make the trip to see for yourself — a lifestyle that makes life worth living!! All the activities one could imagine packaged in a spectacular valley with one of the top golf courses in the country and its own private airport and two well serviced commercial airports within an hour’s drive.
